Description
After building a good following and gaining a lot of respect in the regional music scene, Swindon indie-rocker’s Talk In Code will be releasing their eagerly awaited EP ‘Friends Close, Enemies Closer’ on Thursday 21st August 2008.
The EP has been recorded over the last three months with local producer Stuart Rowe, whose previous credits include Shriekback, Lighterthief and The Alfonz. The EP will be available on both CD and hopefully via digital download, with CDs available at a special launch show planned on the night at the 12Bar in Swindon.
“The Rowe family is synonymous with perfection, and it was no exception when we worked with Stu, he managed to give the songs a naturally expansive sound that I feel reflects our live performances,” said Damien Davis, keyboard player for the band.
“I’m really happy with the overall ambience and anthemic nature of how the songs have come out on the new EP,” added Chris Stevens, lead singer and guitarist with the band. “And I’m really looking forward to playing the launch show, as we will get to play all these new songs live in an extended set.”
Since Chris and Damien formed the band with drummer Matt Bateman, bassist Paul McGregor and lead guitarist James Frost in May 2007, they have quickly established themselves through shows with national bands like Captain and Idlewild, and have played across the south of England, selling out shows in Newbury, Camden and the Clapham Grand in London.
“Probably one of my favourite gigs was when we played at the Clapham Grand, an old Victorian theatre that really seemed to fit our sound,” commented James. “I actually crept up to the Royal Box before we went on and looked down at the crowd; it was a great feeling and made me think this is what I’m in the band for.”
Tickets for the EP launch show, priced £4 in advance, are available now from both the 12Bar and The Victoria in Swindon, and online from www.wegottickets.com. Since this is expected to be a sell out event, fans of the band should make sure they buy their tickets soon.
Doors open at 8pm, with support on the night from Liddington and DJ sets from the legendary Songs of Praise DJs.
